Site Launch!
January 10th, 2024
At last! I have finally made a personal website. And not just on a practice module, but for real.
Anyway, for those who don’t know me—hello! I am Amy Wu Donovan, and it has been my dream for the past 20 years to become a manga artist and publish my own original complete work. Due to how my hyperfixations work, the “original” part of that took much, much longer than I thought. More importantly, I needed to gain enough life experience so I could tell a story that had some kind of compelling conflict. And given how adverse I am to conflict of all forms in real life…yeah, that might be why it took so long.
I could have made a portfolio website, but the truth of the matter is that I got so into working on Children of Astra that I completed the first act of the story (at 112 pages) over the course of last year, and I barely worked on anything else besides that. So I’ve instead decided to make it a webcomic site showcasing my current progress.
As for what my plans are now?
Well, I intend to use this site to pitch the story to publishers and graphic novel agents, to see if it’s something any of them would be interested in picking up. I feel like given the polish and high quality of both the story and the art, this might have a chance. But if none of those attempts pan out, then I fully intend on finishing all 348 pages anyway and posting the rest of them here as I do so, culminating in printing the book on my own.
So that’s it! Wish me luck! And watch this space for updates as to how that endeavor turns out, and what I end up deciding to do after all.
